The Food and Beverage Workforce Skills Qualification (WSQ) system was launched on 12 July 2006 by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG), formerly known as the Workforce Development Agency (WDA), as the national qualifications system for the F&B industry. In line with government efforts to upgrade the skills of workers, the teaching and assessment of the Basic Food Hygiene Course (BFHC) have been aligned to the F&B WSQ standards with effect from 1 June 2007. Alignment with WSQ standards improves and standardise the teaching and assessment processes of the BFHC.
The WSQ course consists of six hours of course work and one-and-a-half hours of assessment. Upon successful completion of the course and assessment, a Statement of Attainment (SOA) will be awarded to the participants.
SFA limits registration of food handlers to who have been trained and assessed by SSG-accredited training providers and assessment centres under the F&B WSQ system as of 1 June 2007.
Course Duration 7.5 hours
One day – 9.30am to 6.00pm
Including time for lunch break (at own expense) and two short breaks with light refreshment provided
– 6 hours of training
Classroom sitting
-1.5 hours for assessment
25 MCQ – 50 mins
Oral Question – 15mins
Practical – 25 mins
Assessment
MCQ and Oral coupled with a Competency-Based Practical Assessment will be conducted on the same day
Certification
Upon successful completion of the programme, candidates will receive the WSQ Follow Food & Beverage Hygiene and Safety Policies & Procedures Statement of Attainment (SOA) issued by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG).
Course Fee
Based on No-claim from training grant/ Foreigner without subsidy:
Nett Course fee @ S$150.00 each.
Funding Support from SkillsConnect
Based on the approval of claim from training grant:-
- Local and SPR participants – Published Rate @S$150.00 nett, before subsidy, amount subjected to allocated by SSG vary from $99.00 up to $142.50. Payment by Cheque only for subsidy participants and payable to ‘Skillmaster Training Centre Pte Ltd’. You need to login to www.skillsconnect.gov.sg to apply for a training grant before the course start date.
Corporate Clientele
Minimum of 10 paxs can be arranged to conduct the training at your requested venue (Training site equipped with basic kitchen facility)
